The October 2000 "Checking In" column asked you to share your experiences as an ocean freight buyer. For instance, one IL reader says getting compliance from his overseas suppliers is a problem:
"We literally have to build our own case label files and send it to them as their manufacturers cannot supply advance shipping notices."
Interesting that this small company must do the computing work for both sides -- shipping and receiving -- and of course re-shipping to its own customers as well.
