For companies considering a major distribution center to serve supply chains throughout the central region of the nation, MidAmerica Industrial Park would surely be an ideal candidate for consideration. The park, Oklahoma's largest, spans 9,000 acres with an array of amenities that make it one of the most distinctive industrial developments in the nation. "Our on-site assets are key to the success and continued prosperity of the companies we have here," said Sanders Mitchell, Administrator for MidAmerica. "Our job is to keep our existing infrastructure up-to-date while adding new elements that will enable our industries to compete even better in a global economy." The park is logistically positioned just east of Tulsa at the intersection of two major highways: US 69 and US 412. The site is strategically located between Kansas City, Missouri and Dallas, Texas providing companies with an excellent location to major markets. The park is also located between Tulsa, Oklahoma and Bentonville, Arkansas -- the corporate home for Wal-Mart. From this convenient location in northeast Oklahoma, MidAmerica industries deliver products to a growing region of central states. Almost one-fourth of the nation's major metropolitan markets can be reached on a "next day" basis. "Our location and transportation options give our industries a fast logistics gateway to major markets in the southwest. We feel that we're an ideal location for companies operating with tight customer requirements for just-in-time shipping," Mitchell said. Rail spurs throughout the park connect to the Union Pacific transcontinental railway for access to Mexico and Canada. An inland waterway port -- located 15 minutes away -- delivers year-around economical barge transportation worldwide. The park has accrued over 70 industries including several international "Blue Chip" firms. Operations encompass paper and plastics production to food processing, light manufacturing and precision machining. Three firms have their national research and development centers on-site. "Access to markets" and "costs" are among the top reasons that firms have relocated their operations to MidAmerica. "We can typically help a company to reduce operating costs by 20-70%," said Mitchell. "And in today's economy, that's quite an attraction." Company sizes range from 3 to nearly 300 employees. Most of the industries attract employees from a population base that totals over 300,000 people that reside within a 30-mile radius. Workforce training is offered to MidAmerica firms via two leading industrial training centers that are located on-site: OSU-Okmulgee, a post-secondary institution, and Northeast Technology Centers. Industries that move to MidAmerica will find a host of incentives available including state tax credits, exemptions and exclusive Federal tax benefits that include accelerated depreciation. Employers may also be eligible to reap "Cash Back" payments direct from the state through the Oklahoma Quality Jobs Program. Prospective companies may choose from several available buildings or opt to have the park build-to-suit on a "fast track" construction timetable that can substantially shorten the development process. Several "shovel-ready" sites are available for immediate use.
