IN BRIEF: New Services and Solutions

The launch of double-stacked rail operations to and from the Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore marked a milestone, enhancing transport cost efficiency and environmental benefits. Part of the Howard Street Tunnel Project, double-stacked operations open new opportunities for intermodal rail service in the Northeast and from the Port of Baltimore to Midwest markets, generating thousands of new jobs and delivering benefits to the region months earlier than expected.
Services
• B&H Worldwide, a provider of aerospace and aviation logistics, relocated its Auckland warehouse to 142 Westney Road, Mangere, Auckland 2022, New Zealand. The new warehouse is located close to the Auckland Airport and to major hubs.
• Gebrüder Weiss expanded its network in Romania, launching operations at a new terminal southeast of Bucharest. The terminal provides transport connections to the Black Sea port of Constanta and neighboring Bulgaria.
Technology
• ZIM integrated the hoopoSense Solar trackers from Hoopo to provide a smart container solution. ZIM’s solution enables end-to-end tracking, leveraging the tracker, which has a battery life of more than 12 years, sufficient to last a container’s entire lifecycle. The tracker delivers location data and features a door-opening detection system.
• Shippers gain quick access to rates from forwarders, real-time shipment tracking, and supply chain management capabilities with the integration between Logi-Sys—Softlink Global’s transportation management system—and CargoAi, a provider of air cargo booking and data solutions. Logi-Sys and CargoAi connect through a secure application programming interface.
• Reverse logistics platform Loop launched Offset, a pre-purchase returns solution that helps merchants offset the high costs of returns and reverse logistics. Offset helps brands offer a premium returns experience at no cost to them by giving their customers the option to pay a small fee during checkout for a free return later.
• GEODIS now provides enhanced visibility to its proprietary middleware solutions as part of its Visibility platform. The middleware is used for the data exchange between GEODIS customers and its warehouse management system. With the new integration module, customers gain real-time visibility into the middleware layer for added transparency.

• The new EcoSonic VpCI-125 HP Permanent ESD bubble film and bags from Cortec are designed to protect electronics throughout the manufacturing, shipping, and storage processes. They combine vapor phase corrosion inhibitors with cushioning packaging bubble bags to protect sensitive electronic equipment from corrosion, damage, and triboelectric charges.
← Peli BioThermal, a provider of temperature-controlled packaging launched Crēdo Vault, a bulk shipper that offers thermal reliability and real-time monitoring for pharmaceutical and life sciences shipments. Crēdo Vault provides built-in IoT monitoring, lightweight efficiency, and temperature control across diverse product types.
• ORBCOMM released the SC 1000 satellite IoT tracking device—the first terminal developed for its next-generation satellite service, OGx. The SC 1000 installs in minutes and provides visibility and satellite tracking in a compact, solar-powered package, helping enable a wider range of satellite IoT applications.
Transportation
• Averitt launched a Guaranteed by Noon LTL delivery service in select zip code areas, ensuring less-than-truckload shipments will be delivered by 12 p.m. on the published standard transit date. Customers can check if their delivery address qualifies for the service through an online zip code checker on the Averitt website at Averitt.com/Guaranteed.
• Schneider introduced an intermodal service providing continuous rail service between points in Mexico and Texas and in the Southeastern United States. The lane is a result of the recently announced connection between CSX Corp. and Canadian Pacific Kansas City. Eliminating potential delays and exposure to freight loss, the new service provides an alternative for shippers who have traditionally relied on over-the-road transport in the Southeast.
