Verst Logistics Names Todd Johnson Next CEO

Verst Logistics has named Todd Johnson as its next CEO, effective August 1. Johnson currently serves as president and chief operating officer, a title he’s held since 2019. He will retain the president role alongside his new CEO duties.

Johnson brings more than 30 years of industry experience to the position. In his current role, he has focused on strengthening operations, driving strategic execution, and supporting sustained growth, according to the company.

Paul Verst, who has led the company as CEO since 1992, will transition to executive chairman. In that capacity, he will focus on long-term strategy, customer engagement, and industry relationships while handing day-to-day leadership to Johnson.

“Todd has been instrumental in strengthening our organization and positioning us for the future,” Verst said. “His leadership, discipline, and commitment to our people and customers make him the right person to guide the company forward. I look forward to supporting him in my new role.”

The company describes the leadership change as the next step in a long-term succession plan. As CEO, Johnson will guide Verst’s strategic direction and oversee business and operational performance, while continuing to build relationships with customers, partners, and communities.

Verst Logistics traces its roots to 1966, when founder William G. “Bill” Verst, Sr. built the company on a straightforward promise: take care of customers without cutting corners. It has since grown into a major logistics provider, with more than 2,500 employees and roughly 8 million square feet of warehouse space across its network, offering fulfillment, packaging, transportation, and warehousing services. The company has kept expanding in recent years, including a $6.6 million investment announced in 2024 to upgrade its Boone County, Kentucky operations and its 2023 acquisition of Loth Logistics, a managed transportation and freight brokerage firm.

Verst is marking its 60th anniversary this year, a milestone that frames the leadership transition as part of the company’s next chapter. Johnson’s appointment continues that trajectory, building on the operational and cultural foundation established by Bill Verst, Sr. and Paul Verst over six decades.
