To help you get started in wireless technology, Inbound Logistics has compiled a list of some wireless providers in the segment. While this is by no means an all-inclusive listing of vendors, we hope it will help guide you in your preliminary search.
@Road provides location-relevant and time-sensitive information services to businesses and organizations managing mobile resources. The company’s Internet-based solution combines GPS technology, wireless communications and the Internet to help companies manage the movement of vehicles with location, reporting, dispatching, messaging and management services.
Aether Systems
Aether Systems delivers wireless and mobile data solutions. Aether’s products and services are built on Aether Fusion, the company’s standards-based platform that allows for secure extension of critical information to most wireless or mobile environments.
Air2Web
Air2Web provides mobile and wireless technology using open standards to access data directly. Services include blending voice and data in a single application, optimizing device functionality, and interacting with the digital device market. Air2Web provides platforms to wirelessly enable applications such as back-end CRM, ERP, SFA, and SCM systems.
AirDesk
AirDesk provides wireless data solutions and services, specializing in machine-to-machine (M2M) communications. AirDesk’s AirSource is an online database of wireless data communications and M2M information.
AirIQ
AirIQ OnLine combines the Internet, wireless communications networks, GPS, digital mapping and intelligent information technologies. Information about a vehicle’s heading, speed and location is accessible once AirIQ is installed into vehicle fleets. Information from AirIQ OnBoard is forwarded to AirIQ OnLine where managers can view and access fleet information on digital maps, and monitor vehicles on the Internet.
AirLink Communications
AirLink specializes in enabling real-time, two-way communications with remote commercial assets. AirLink provides intelligent wireless communications hardware with protocol capabilities, remote configuration and monitoring software, modem pool management software, and middleware to enable legacy polling systems to utilize public packet data networks.
Air-Trak Cloudberry
Cloudberry Wireless Services allow small and large organizations to track and communicate with their fleets from desktop PCs with Internet access.
All Set Tracking
All Set Tracking offers the ALLTrack e-Seal, which is permanently installed on the container and does not use the traditional door-locking mechanism. The ALLTrack e-Seal uses a single globally available radio frequency band. The ALLTrack readers are less expensive than RFID readers and can be attached to mobile phones.
Antenna Software
Antenna Software develops wireless mobile enterprise software. Antenna’s A3 Mobile Foundation technology provides remote employees with real-time wireless access to information.
Apriva
Apriva’s Freight Tracker is a wireless dispatch, shipping, package tracking and driver communication solution, providing drivers, dispatchers and customers with current information through the delivery cycle. The solution combines standard dispatching functionality, centralized management tools and instant chat. Freight Tracker includes devices, software, wireless wide area network access, and gateway services and support.
Arch Wireless
Arch Wireless provides end-to-end wireless enterprise solutions, wireless e-mail, instant text messaging and mobile Internet access. The Arch Wireless Network uses the ReFLEX 25 digital point-to-multipoint platform and offers high signal strength, in-building penetration, and enhanced landmass and population coverage.
AT&T Wireless
AT&T Wireless offers wireless fleet management solutions. The GPRS/EDGE network supports a variety of platforms from ruggedized handhelds and laptops to wireless PDAs. The GPRS/EDGE network includes over-the-air encryption and decryption to protect data while in transit.
Cingular Wireless

Covigo—Symbol Technologies
Covigo, a division of Symbol Technologies, offers a mobile platform to help companies simplify the creation and deployment of wireless applications. Covigo offers asset tracking, delivery tracing, employee productivity and adherence to service-level agreements.
CSI Wireless
CSI provides GPS and wireless technologies for asset tracking, fleet management and stolen vehicle recovery. FLT-Link, an extension of the Asset-Link product line, is specifically engineered for tracking and remotely managing tractor/trailers and other mobile assets and cargo.
Discrete Wireless
Discrete Wireless focuses on providing Internet-based applications for service-based industries such as transportation. The MARCUS suite of products and services combines wireless data networks, GPS, XML technology and the Internet to provide solutions for businesses.
Dynamic Mobile Data
DMD service offerings include: MobileServer—a wide area wireless platform infrastructure for two-way wireless communications with mobile resources, and the Dynamic Mobile Application Suite—a set of configurable applications that provide a basis for moving corporate information to mobile resources.

Enterprise Information Solutions (EIS) offers a wireless solution, which is supported by custom software. Fleets can be outfitted with a Nextel phone battery to manage and scan inventory and the software can track inventory on the back end.
EMS Technologies
EMS Wireless, a division of EMS Technologies, offers base station antennas for all wireless protocols including cellular, PCS, GSM, CDMA, TDMA and IDEN. Companies can incorporate a variety of polarizations, beam widths, gains and downtilts, to fit individual location or project needs.
Everypath

Extended Systems’ solutions provide support for wireless connectivity and mobile data management. Gearworks

InterGis
InterGis’ Visual Control Room is a multi-user system for automating routing, scheduling and dispatching operations. All activities managed by any dispatcher are seen in real-time by all users. Visual Control Room creates routes and schedules resources based on a company’s work rules.
Intermec Technologies
Intermec’s wireless data systems enable communications between readers and electronic tag devices, allowing users to identify, track and monitor almost anything that moves. The systems include wireless LANs that support current and anticipated wireless technologies and can be integrated into fixed high-speed, LAN-based solutions.
Matrics
Matrics RFID systems are comprised of silicon-based RFID tags, reader electronics and systems management software. RFID tags can be purchased in the form of thin flexible inlays or finished smart labels to attach or imbed in items.
Nextel Communications
Nextel Wireless Business Solutions provide a single source for seamlessly integrated digital voice and data communications—without upending current processes. QUALCOMM
The OmniTRACS mobile communications system provides two-way satellite data messaging and automatic vehicle positioning. The system allows companies to monitor the location of inventory and respond to service issues.
Savi Technology
Savi’s RFID infrastructure, including the EchoPoint technology and Savi SmartSeal electronic security seals, provide status monitoring and plug into the Savi SmartChain Platform.
Skybitz
The SkyBitz Global Location System platform allows users to view the entire supply chain as a continuous stream of data like a video, preventing gaps in asset location.
Teletrac
Teletrac develops and markets wireless location information systems that allow commercial fleet managers to track their fleets’ movements.
Terion
Terion offers wireless location technology for managing, monitoring, and tracking mobile and remote assets for the transportation and supply chain markets.
Verizon Wireless
Verizon Wireless offers remote access via the NationalAccess and BroadbandAccess services, a wide-area mobile Internet access solution. Wi-FiAccess is Verizon’s complementary remote access service, offering high-speed bandwidth. Verizon Information Technologies offers GPS and GIS technology in its software packages for tracking and tracing capabilities.
WebTech Wireless
WebTech offers a wireless vehicle services solution that integrates GPS, wireless technologies and the Internet to unify back-office data and fleet operational data (location, performance, communications and activity).
WhereNet Corporation
WhereNet offers wireless location and communications solutions for managing mobile resources through a single wireless, industry standards-based IEEE local area network. Companies can deploy multiple applications for real-time location, telemetry, messaging, and 802.11b.
Xplore Technologies Corp.
Xplore is a provider of rugged mobile computing technologies. Systems include the Tablet PC, pen/touch and handheld computers, integrated multi-wireless WAN, LAN and GPS technologies, vehicle, cart, forklift and desktop docking stations, peripherals and professional support services.
Zebra Technologies International
Zebra provides RFID smart label printer/encoders with real-time tracking, sorting, and data recording features. Mobile and wireless printers enable cross docking and distribution management applications. Labeling and integration software link printing operations with inventory, shipping, customer service, and other applications.
